What I love about your article is that while making your point you do not deny that he did in fact have asperger's. I have encountered quite the opposite with neurotypicals...that they have this fixed idea of what all of us are like, what we are capable and not capable of doing, and that they are an expert because they used to baby sit a group of us 20 years ago. What I mean is that when I pointed out that Adam Lanza had asd on my facebook, a well meaning woman who is unaware that I had ASD started telling me what we are like and that we do not kill people...as if we are robots. Wrong. We are intelligent ppl, we are capable of killing someone if we choose, especially if we are obsessed with guns, which Adam was. But the number of ppl with Aspergers who kill or act out violently is probably less than the number of neurotypicals who do the same.
The point either way is that we are all different and people should not assume we are like insects where you see one and then you know about them all. Ppl also need to refrain from holding us in such a compassionate light that they forget that we can and will make some of the same grave mistakes that neurotypicals make because of the simple fact that we are human. Ppl with asd are not all sweet either.
